Traube’s Sign

Pistol shot sounds heard on auscultation over arterial pulse in aortic regurgitation.

 

Patient 1:

This is a middle-aged man with active intravenous drug use who was found to have infective endocarditis of the aortic valve and evidence of severe aortic insufficiency, including a “pistol shot” sound over the femoral artery.

This patient also has a decrescendo diastolic murmur over Erb’s point.
