Radiation Tattoos
The presence of tattoo markers on the skin can be a helpful clue to previous external beam radiation therapy. Look for blue macules that are around 2-4 mm in size.
Patient 1:
This is a middle-aged man with a history of mediastinal radiation therapy for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Patient 2:
This is a young man with metastatic sarcoma to the chest who had been undergoing external beam radiation therapy to the metastatic lesions.
